Living in Palm Beach Gardens Along Northlake Boulevard

Palm Beach Gardens has two very different halves. The eastern side, near PGA Boulevard and the coast, is older, denser, and built out. The western side, along Northlake Boulevard, is where nearly all the new construction is—newer roads, more open land, and a lot still going up. If you are buying new here, you are buying on the western side, and it is worth knowing what that actually feels like before you commit.

Where Northlake Boulevard goes

Northlake Boulevard is the main east-west road through this part of the city, and it is the one you will use every day.

Head east and it takes you toward I-95 and Florida's Turnpike, which are the two roads that get you anywhere else in South Florida. Head west and it runs out toward the Beeline Highway.

We are not going to give you drive times. A minute count is never accurate for every reader, at every hour, in every season—and South Florida traffic in February is not South Florida traffic in August. What stays true is the road names and where they connect, so that is what we give you.

The golf, because it is what the city is known for

Palm Beach Gardens is a golf town. PGA National is here, and so is the PGA of America.

The part most people do not realize: the city runs its own public golf course. Sandhill Crane Golf Club is owned and operated by the City of Palm Beach Gardens on Sandhill Crane Drive. Anyone can book a tee time. You do not need a membership, and you do not need to live in a golf community.

If golf is part of why you are looking here, that one fact changes the math on whether you need to buy inside a country club.

Shopping and groceries

Out west, the everyday shopping is on Northlake Boulevard. There is a Publix at the Shoppes at Ibis at 10130 Northlake Boulevard. That is the closest full grocery store to the new communities out here.

Further east, the bigger shopping is The Gardens Mall on PGA Boulevard. It is the main indoor mall for this part of Palm Beach County.

The honest summary: you have what you need out west for a weekly shop, and you drive east for anything bigger. That is normal for a growing edge of a city, and it changes as more rooftops go in.

What the western side feels like

Newer. More open. Still filling in.

Out here you will see finished communities next to communities under construction next to land that has not been touched yet. If you have only ever lived in a built-out neighborhood, that takes some adjusting to. Some buyers love it—you get new roads, new drainage, and new everything. Some do not, because construction traffic and dust are real while it is happening.

Ask at any sales office what is planned on the land nearest the home you are looking at. Any honest sales representative will tell you, and it is a much better question than asking what the view is like today.

Healthcare

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is the main hospital serving this part of the city. There are also urgent care clinics along Northlake Boulevard and PGA Boulevard.

Confirm what any specific provider takes before you rely on it—networks change, and so do locations.

Schools

Schools in Palm Beach County are assigned by home address, and those assignments can change from year to year as the district redraws boundaries.

Who this side of the city suits

It suits you if you want a brand-new home, you do not mind being on a growing edge, and you would rather have newer construction than a shorter drive to the beach.

It suits you less if you want to walk to restaurants, you want everything already built, or you want to be near the water. The eastern side of the city is better for all three, and it is mostly resale rather than new construction.

There is no wrong answer. There is only the one that matches how you actually live.

What summer is actually like

Nobody selling you a house in February will bring this up, so we will.

South Florida has a wet season that runs roughly from late spring into autumn. Afternoon thunderstorms are routine rather than remarkable, humidity is high, and hurricane season runs from June through November. None of that is a reason not to live here—several million people do—but it should shape what you look for in a house.
