Things to Do Near Vintage Oaks in Palm Beach Gardens

The three things worth knowing about weekends near Vintage Oaks: the city owns a public golf course anyone can book, there is a drive-through safari park a short drive southwest, and the big indoor mall is on the eastern side of town. The western end of Palm Beach Gardens is quieter than the coast, and most of what you do out here you drive to.

Golf, you can play without joining anything.

Palm Beach Gardens is a golf town, and most people assume that means private clubs. It does not have to.

The City of Palm Beach Gardens owns and runs Sandhill Crane Golf Club on Sandhill Crane Drive. It is a public course. Anyone can book a tee time—no membership, no sponsor, no initiation fee.

If you have been looking at homes inside golf communities mainly to get access to a course, this is worth an afternoon before you decide. The city's own site has the rates and the booking.

Lion Country Safari

Lion Country Safari is a drive-through safari park at 2003 Lion Country Safari Road in Loxahatchee, southwest of Vintage Oaks.

You drive your own car through the animal preserve with the windows up, then park and walk the amusement area. It is the kind of place that is genuinely good with children and also fine without them.

It is the single biggest attraction near this side of the city, and it is close enough to be a normal Saturday rather than a trip.

The Gardens Mall

The Gardens Mall sits at 3101 PGA Boulevard on the eastern side of the city. It is the main indoor shopping center for this part of Palm Beach County.

This is the drive-east trip. Out west you have what you need for a weekly shop; the mall is where you go for everything else.

City parks and recreation

The City of Palm Beach Gardens runs parks, athletic fields, a tennis center, and recreation programs across the city. The city's own website is the place to check what is open, what the programs cost, and where each facility is.

We point you at the city rather than listing individual parks here for a simple reason: facilities get renovated, programs change seasonally, and a list on a real estate page goes stale within a year. The city's page does not.

Eating out

Honest answer: the western end of Northlake Boulevard is not a restaurant district. The denser dining is east, along PGA Boulevard and toward the coast, and there is more of it every year as the west side fills in.

We deliberately do not publish a list of specific restaurants. Restaurants change owners, change hours and close, and a named list on a page like this is wrong within a year of being written. If a restaurant matters to your decision, check that it is open the week you are looking, not the year the article was written.

The beach

Palm Beach Gardens is not a beachfront city, but the coast is east of you. Getting there means heading east on Northlake Boulevard or PGA Boulevard and continuing toward the water.

We are not going to tell you it is fifteen minutes away, because it depends entirely on where you are going and when you leave. It is a normal drive, not an expedition.

What the weekend actually looks like out here

Realistically: golf or a park in the morning, a drive east for shopping or dinner, and Lion Country Safari when you have people visiting.

If you want walkable restaurants and bars on your doorstep, the western end of Palm Beach Gardens is not that, and you should know it before you buy rather than after. Before you buy out here

Do one thing: drive the area on a weekday at the hour you would actually be commuting, and again on a Saturday. Two visits tell you more than any article can.

What is within a short drive?

Beyond the three above, the wider area has more than the western end of Northlake Boulevard suggests.

Water. Palm Beach Gardens is inland, but the coast is east, and the Intracoastal runs between the mainland and the barrier island. Beach access, boat ramps, and waterfront parks are all east of the city center.

Golf, again. Beyond the city's own public course, this part of Palm Beach County has one of the highest concentrations of golf anywhere in the United States. PGA National is here, and the PGA of America is headquartered in the city. If golf is why you are moving, you have chosen correctly.

Nature. Western Palm Beach County runs out into open land, wetland, and preserve. It is a genuinely different landscape from the coastal strip, and it is five minutes from these communities rather than an hour.

If you have visitors coming

This is a place people visit. A drive-through safari park, an hour of coastline, and an international airport south of the city via I-95 make it easy for family to come to you.

Worth knowing when you are choosing a floor plan: guest space is the thing buyers most often wish they had bought.
