Silestone Countertops and Everything Else Included at Avondale at Avenir

In this article
Silestone countertops are a brand of quartz surface, and at Avondale at Avenir DiVosta lists ""Silestone or granite 3cm countertops throughout,"" in the kitchen and the bathrooms. That is one item on a long list of what comes with every Avondale home. The list also includes KitchenAid stainless steel appliances with the refrigerator, a Whirlpool washer and dryer, a Rinnai tankless water heater and impact-resistant windows and doors.
This guide explains what Silestone is, how it compares with granite, and what else is included at Avondale at Avenir, so you know what is standard before you start picking upgrades.

What is Silestone?
Silestone is a brand name for an engineered quartz surface. ""Engineered"" means it is made in a factory from crushed natural quartz mixed with a binder, then pressed into slabs. That gives it an even color and pattern from one slab to the next.
Granite is different. It is natural stone cut from the earth, so every slab has its own pattern and color.
The ""3cm"" in DiVosta's list is the thickness. Three centimeters is a little over 1 inch, which is a common thickness for kitchen counters and feels solid at the edge.
Silestone or granite: which should you pick?
At Avondale, DiVosta's list says ""Silestone or granite,"" so you will choose during design. Here are the basics.
Silestone (engineered quartz) | Granite (natural stone) | |
|---|---|---|
Look | Even color and pattern | Every slab is one of a kind |
Sealing | Not usually needed | Usually sealed from time to time |
Heat | Use a trivet under hot pans | Handles heat well, trivet still wise |
Stains | Resists most stains | Resists stains when sealed |
Ask the design center which colors are standard and which cost more, since the choice of color can change the price.

The 1, 2, 5 and 10-year warranty
DiVosta lists a ""1, 2, 5 & 10-year Pulte Protection Plan, transferable limited warranty"" at Avondale. DiVosta's warranty document describes the tiers this way:
1 year: materials and workmanship.
2 years: how the mechanical systems work, meaning plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
5 years: certain kinds of water getting in and leaks inside the home.
10 years: the structure, such as the footings, load-bearing walls, beams and roof trusses.
""Transferable"" means that if you sell during a coverage period, the warranty can pass to the next owner. Each tier has its own terms and limits, so read the full warranty before you sign. A good habit is to book an independent inspection before your first year of coverage ends, so any workmanship issues are reported while that tier still applies.
How to care for stone countertops
Both choices are strong, but a little care keeps them looking new.
Wipe up spills with a soft cloth, warm water and a mild dish soap.
Use a cutting board. Cutting right on the counter can dull knives and scratch the surface.
Use a trivet under hot pots and pans, on quartz or granite.
Skip harsh cleaners like bleach or scouring pads unless the maker says they are safe.
Ask about sealing if you pick granite. Granite is usually sealed from time to time, and the design center can tell you what they recommend.
Your countertop maker's care guide is the final word, so keep it with your home papers.
What is not on the list
A features list tells you what is standard. It does not tell you the price of every upgrade. Before you sign, ask the sales team:
Which countertop colors are standard, and which cost more.
Whether the appliance package on your plan is the gas range or the built-in wall oven.
What options add to the base price, like a covered lanai extension or a 3-car garage.
What incentives are offered this month, since they change.
