"Homestead has a good mix of parks. There are city parks with playgrounds and walking paths, county parks with a marina and a botanical garden, and two national parks, Everglades and Biscayne, within reach. One of the city parks, Mayor Roscoe Warren Municipal Park, sits on the same road as Aria Park: East Palm Drive. This guide walks through the parks we can confirm, what each one is, and where to check hours and fees, because those change.

The park nearest Aria Park: Mayor Roscoe Warren Municipal Park

Mayor Roscoe Warren Municipal Park is a City of Homestead park at 1400 E. Palm Drive. Aria Park's address is also on Palm Drive, so the two share a road. The city's page for the park lists these features: basketball courts, benches, dog parks, a fitness station, picnic shelters, playgrounds, restrooms, soccer fields, volleyball courts and walking and jogging paths.

That is a long list, and it covers a lot of ages. A parent can watch a child on the playground. A neighbor can walk a dog. A group of friends can find a court. You can read the full list on the City of Homestead park page. Rules and open hours can change, so check that page before you go.

Losner Park, in historic downtown

Losner Park is another City of Homestead park. It sits at 104 N. Krome Avenue, in the middle of historic downtown. The city describes it as a great place to have concerts, performances and other special events. It has a playground, a stage, a veterans memorial and paths.

Because it is downtown, you can pair a park visit with a walk past the shops, the galleries and the old Seminole Theatre. We cover that whole area in Downtown Homestead FL: A Guide From Aria Park. The city's own page for the park is here.

Homestead Bayfront Park

Homestead Bayfront Park is a Miami-Dade County park at Convoy Point. It has the Herbert Hoover Marina, and it sits next to the headquarters of Biscayne National Park. It is on the water, so it feels very different from the city parks inland.

The county decides the fees and the hours, and both can change. Please use the county's Bayfront Park page for current details.

Fruit & Spice Park

Fruit & Spice Park is also run by Miami-Dade County. The county calls it the only tropical botanical garden of its kind in the United States, with more than 500 plant varieties. The address is 24801 SW 187th Avenue in Homestead.

A botanical garden is a different kind of outing from a ball field. It is a place to walk slowly and look at plants you may not have seen before. Admission and hours change, so see the county's Fruit & Spice Park page first.

Two national parks nearby

Everglades National Park. The main entrance for the park is on State Road 9336, which is Palm Drive. The National Park Service gives the address as 40001 State Road 9336 in Homestead. That is the same Palm Drive that Aria Park is on. The NPS says to reach it from the Turnpike or U.S. 1. We cover the roads in Homestead to Miami: Getting Around From Aria Park. Hours and fees change, so check the National Park Service directions page.

Biscayne National Park. The National Park Service calls Biscayne National Park 95% water. It has islands and coral reefs, and guided adventures leave from the Dante Fascell Visitor Center at 9700 SW 328th Street in Homestead. Visit the Biscayne National Park website to see what is offered now.

How to pick a park for your week

You do not need to choose one favorite. Different parks fit different days. Here is a simple way to think about it:

  1. A quick walk after work. Mayor Roscoe Warren Municipal Park, because it has walking and jogging paths and it shares Aria Park's road.

  2. A kid-friendly afternoon. Either city park has a playground.

  3. A day with visitors. Everglades National Park or Biscayne National Park. Both are named places that guests know.

  4. A slow weekend morning. Fruit & Spice Park.

  5. A day by the water. Homestead Bayfront Park.

What to look for when you visit a park

A visit tells you more than a list does. When you go, walk the paths and see how wide they are. Look at whether there is shade where you would sit. Check where the restrooms are. If you have a dog, see whether the dog area fits the size of your dog. If you have children, watch how the playground is set up and whether it suits their ages.

Try the same park on a weekday evening and again on a weekend. The crowd, the events and the open areas can look very different. Take notes on your phone so you can compare them later, when several communities start to blur together.
