Here is what it offers, who runs it, and what else is nearby.

""Acute care"" means a hospital that treats serious illness and injury in the short term, with an emergency room, surgery and inpatient beds. It is different from a clinic or an urgent care center.
Who Owns Wellington Regional Medical Center?
People often ask whether Wellington Regional is part of HCA. Based on its own site, it is not. The hospital says it is ""operated by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc."" HCA runs a different hospital in the area, HCA Florida JFK Hospital in Atlantis.
What Services Wellington Regional Offers
The hospital's pages list a wide range of care. Highlights include:
Emergency care. The emergency department says it has teleneurology ""24 hours per day, seven days a week,"" an orthopedic surgeon on call, and staff trained to help equestrians.
Stroke care. The hospital announced in August 2024 that it received Comprehensive Stroke Center certification from DNV. The hospital describes that as ""the highest level of competence for treatment of serious stroke events.""
Heart care. The hospital lists cardiac services and calls itself an accredited Chest Pain Center.
Women's and baby care. It lists a birthing center, a women's center and a Level III NICU, a neonatal intensive care unit for newborns who need extra help.
Other programs. The hospital also lists a cancer center, a lung program, neurosurgery, orthopedics, a vascular institute and weight-loss surgery.
What it does not claim. We did not find a trauma center designation on the hospital's own site, so we do not claim one. If trauma care matters to you, ask your doctor which hospital the county sends trauma patients to.

What the Certifications Mean
Hospital certificates can sound like alphabet soup. Here is what the ones Wellington Regional lists mean in plain words.
The Joint Commission accreditation. The Joint Commission is a national group that checks hospitals against safety and quality standards. Accreditation means the hospital passed its review.
Comprehensive Stroke Center certification (DNV). DNV is another outside group that certifies hospitals. A comprehensive stroke certification is meant for hospitals that can treat the most serious strokes, according to the hospital's own description.
Chest Pain Center accreditation. This is a program focused on how quickly and well a hospital handles heart attacks and chest pain.
These are useful signals. They are not the whole story. Your own doctor's advice and your insurance network still matter most.
A New ER on Hypoluxo Road
The hospital's emergency services page says a new freestanding emergency room, the ER at Hypoluxo, ""is currently under construction and is expected to open in early 2027."" A local paper reported the address as 4325 Hypoluxo Road in Lantana. Hypoluxo Road is the main east-west road just north of Amara, so this would be worth watching. Building dates often slip, so check the hospital's emergency services page for its real opening.
Is Wellington Regional a Good Hospital?
We are not doctors, and we do not rate hospitals. What we can tell you is what the hospital itself says and which outside groups have certified it: The Joint Commission accreditation, the DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center certification and its Chest Pain Center accreditation.

Why Healthcare Matters When You Choose a Home
When buyers think about a new home, they think about bedrooms and kitchens first. Healthcare is easy to forget until you need it. A few things to think about:
Which hospitals your insurance covers. Check before you buy, not after.
Where your doctors are. A great home far from your doctors can mean a lot of driving.
Urgent care for small problems. Find the closest urgent care center for things that are not emergencies.
Pharmacies. Find the pharmacy you will use and check its hours, including weekends.

A Quick Healthcare Checklist Before You Buy
Before you sign on a home anywhere, take ten minutes for these checks.
Call your insurance company. Ask which hospitals and doctors near Amara are in your network.
Ask your current doctors whether they know anyone in the Wellington or Boynton Beach area they would recommend.
Look up urgent care centers near State Road 7, Hypoluxo Road and Boynton Beach Boulevard.
Save the hospital numbers. Wellington Regional's main line is 561-798-8500. Bethesda Hospital West's is 561-336-7000.
Drive the route once in daylight so you know the way.
None of this replaces calling 911 in an emergency. It just means you are ready on day one in your new home.
