Wall Oven Microwave Combo or Range? The Two Glynlea Kitchens

In this article
A wall oven microwave combo is a single built-in unit that stacks a microwave on top of an oven inside a cabinet wall, so you cook at a comfortable height instead of bending down to a range. At Glynlea Country Club, Lennar lists this setup in the four Pinehurst homes. The Twin Homes and Augusta homes list a range with an over-the-range microwave instead. Here is how the two kitchens differ and who each one suits.
The Two Glynlea Kitchen Setups
Lennar's included features lists for Glynlea name two different appliance packages.
Pinehurst homes (Hartford, Daisy, Tulip, Periwinkle):
Lennar lists a ""Quality stainless steel appliance package featuring: Wall Oven/Microwave Combo, 5 Burner Cooktop Designer Hood over cooktop, Side by Side Refrigerator, and Dishwasher.""
Twin Homes and Augusta homes (Azalea, Alexia, Hailey, Victoria):
Lennar lists a ""Premium stainless steel appliance package featuring: Over-the-range microwave, Five-burner range, Side-by-side refrigerator, Dishwasher.""
So every Glynlea kitchen has five burners, a side-by-side refrigerator and a dishwasher. The difference is where the oven and microwave live.

What a Wall Oven Microwave Combo Is
In a combo unit, the microwave sits on top and the oven sits below it. The whole unit is built into a tall cabinet. The cooktop is a separate piece set into the counter, with a hood above it to pull out smoke and steam.
With a range, the oven is under the cooktop in one appliance. The microwave in Lennar's Augusta and Twin Homes list sits above the range. Over-the-range microwaves often act as the vent too, so ask how the one in your home vents.
If the words cooktop and range are new to you, our cooktop vs range explainer covers the basics with another community's kitchen as the example.
Pros of a Wall Oven Microwave Combo
Less bending. The oven door opens closer to waist or chest height, depending on how the cabinet is built. Lifting a heavy dish is easier.
The microwave is not over a hot stove. You are not reaching over steam and burners to grab a bowl.
A real hood over the cooktop. Lennar lists a ""Designer Hood over cooktop"" in the Pinehurst homes.
Two cooks can spread out. One person can use the cooktop while another uses the oven on a different wall.
Cons of a Wall Oven Microwave Combo
It uses more cabinet space. A tall oven cabinet takes room that could have been cabinets or pantry.
Replacing it is a bigger job. A built-in combo has to fit its cabinet opening. Ask what a replacement would involve.
You have to walk between stations. The cooktop and oven may be a few steps apart.
Pros of a Range With an Over-the-Range Microwave
Simple and familiar. One appliance does the burners and the oven.
Saves space. No tall oven cabinet.
Easier to replace. Ranges come in standard sizes.
Cons of a Range
Bending down to the oven. Every roast goes in low.
The microwave sits over the burners. Reaching up over a hot pot is not for everyone.

The Rest of the Kitchen, Side by Side
The appliances are the headline, but the two lists differ in smaller ways too. Here is what each list says, in Lennar's wording:
Item | Twin Homes and Augusta list | Pinehurst list |
|---|---|---|
Cabinets | Shaker-style, 42"" uppers, soft-close doors, three colors | Shaker Style 42"" upper cabinets, choice of 3 colors |
Counters | 2 cm quartz, three color options | 2 cm quartz countertops |
Backsplash | 4"" x 16"" white tile backsplash | Tile backsplash |
Faucet | Moen Elbur high-arc, stainless finish | Sleek High Arch faucet |
Lighting | LED overhead kitchen lighting | Recessed LED overhead lighting |
Sink and disposal | Not named on the list | Single bowl stainless steel sink; garbage disposal |
""Not named"" does not mean missing. It means the list does not say. If a garbage disposal matters to you in an Augusta or Twin Homes kitchen, ask the sales team and get the answer in writing.
Cooking Day to Day
A few real-life notes on each setup:
Big holiday meals. With a wall oven and a separate cooktop, one person can baste a turkey while another stirs gravy without bumping elbows.
Weeknight dinners. With a range, everything is in one spot. Fewer steps for a quick meal.
Steam and smoke. A hood over a cooktop is built for venting. Turn it on before you start searing.
Small kids. Some parents like that a wall oven door is up off the floor. Others like a range because the oven is in one known place.
How the Kitchens Look in Each Plan
Lennar's room walkthroughs describe each kitchen. A few examples, in Lennar's words:
Daisy (Pinehurst): ""This stylish kitchen inspires culinary creativity with abundant cabinetry, a multi-use center island and a brand-new appliance suite."" Lennar adds that ""The kitchen island offers space for counter-height seating.""
Periwinkle (Pinehurst): Lennar mentions ""a brand-new appliance suite, Shaker-style cabinetry and a versatile center island.""
Tulip (Pinehurst): Lennar lists ""a multifunctional center island with bar-style seating.""
Alexia (Augusta): ""The kitchen features brand-new stainless steel appliances, ample cabinetry, a corner pantry for storage and a center island for additional meal preparation space.""
Azalea (Twin Homes): Lennar mentions ""an inviting center island that doubles as a breakfast bar, a classic storage pantry and stainless steel appliances.""
Lennar's drawings put the Tulip kitchen at about 14 feet by 9 feet 3 inches. Always check the current plan.
Who Each Kitchen Suits
A wall oven combo (Pinehurst) may suit you if:
Someone in your home has a sore back or knees and does not want to bend to an oven.
You bake or roast often and move heavy pans.
You like a hood over the burners.
A range (Augusta or Twin Homes) may suit you if:
You want a simpler kitchen with more cabinet space.
You like the idea of a standard appliance that is easy to swap later.
You want the lower starting price of the Twin Homes or Augusta homes.
The kitchen is only one of several differences between the two feature lists. See the full side-by-side in Lennar's included features at Glynlea and how buying works. The bathrooms differ too. Read the frameless and framed showers in Glynlea owner's baths.

What to Check in the Kitchen Before Closing
When the home is built, test every appliance. Our final walkthrough checklist for a new construction home has a room-by-room list. For the kitchen:
Turn on every burner.
Run the oven and the microwave.
Turn on the hood fan and light (Pinehurst) or the microwave vent (Augusta and Twin Homes).
Run the dishwasher and check under the sink for leaks.
Open every cabinet door and drawer.
The Pinehurst homes also list ""9'4"" ceilings main floor,"" which changes how a tall oven cabinet looks in the room. See what the Pinehurst ceiling heights mean.
