"Port St. Lucie has golf for almost every kind of player. The city runs a public course called The Saints. PGA Golf Club lists three courses open to the public. Astor Creek Country Club is semi-private, and Tesoro Club is private and gated. This guide explains each one in plain words, with addresses and links.

First, What Do ""Public,"" ""Semi-Private"" and ""Private"" Mean?

These words show up on every course website, so here is a quick way to read them.

  • Public: anyone can book a tee time.

  • Municipal: a public course owned by a city or county.

  • Semi-private: the club has members, but may let some outside players in. Ask the club what that means for visitors.

  • Private: you must be a member, or a guest of one.

Rules change, so always confirm with the course before you plan a round.

The Saints (Municipal)

The Saints is at 2601 SE Morningside Blvd. It has been owned and run by the City of Port St. Lucie since 2001. That makes it a municipal course. If you want a place to start, this is a smart first call. Visit the Saints website to read about the course and check how to book.

PGA Golf Club (Public)

PGA Golf Club is at 1916 Perfect Dr. Its site lists the Wanamaker, Ryder and Dye courses, and says they are open to the public. If you like the idea of playing at a place with a famous name on the sign, this one is worth a look. See the PGA Golf Club page for rates and tee times.

PGA Village is also a golf-based community, which means the neighborhood was planned around the courses. We cover that in our Port St. Lucie neighborhoods guide.

Astor Creek Country Club (Semi-Private)

Astor Creek Country Club is at 9106 SW Shinnecock Dr. It is listed as semi-private. That usually means a mix of member play and outside play, but only the club can tell you the exact rules. Check the Astor Creek website or call them.

Tesoro Club (Private and Gated)

Tesoro Club is at 125 SE Via Tesoro Blvd. It is private and gated. You need to be a member or a guest. The Tesoro Club website is the best place to learn about membership.

Other Courses

You may hear other names in town, such as St. James, St. Lucie Trail and Savanna Club. We did not check their current status, so please confirm with the course before you plan a round.

A Quick Way to Choose

Match your style to the course type.

  • Want to play this weekend with no membership? Start with The Saints or PGA Golf Club.

  • Curious about club life? Ask Astor Creek about its semi-private options.

  • Want a full private club? Look into Tesoro Club.

Prices, tee times and rules change. Confirm hours and policies on each course's own site before you go.

Questions to Ask Before You Book

Every course runs its own way. A short call or a look at the website can answer most of these.

  • Is the course open to the public on the day I want to play?

  • How do I book a tee time, and how far ahead can I do it?

  • Are there fees for a cart, and is walking allowed?

  • Is there a dress code?

  • Do you have lessons, a driving range or a practice green?

  • Are there special rates for residents of the city?

Write the answers down. Then you can compare courses in a calm, simple way instead of guessing.

Playing in the Florida Heat

Florida summers are hot and the sun is strong. Many players book an early morning round. Bring water, a hat and sunscreen. Weather can change fast, and afternoon storms are common in summer, so check the forecast before you head out. The course website or pro desk can tell you how they handle bad weather.

If You Are New to Golf

You do not have to be an expert. Many public courses welcome beginners, and some offer lessons. Start by calling the public courses on our list and asking what they offer for new players. A short round or a driving range visit is a great way to learn. Take a friend, go early, and have fun. Many people find that a regular weekly round becomes the best part of the week, and it is a good way to meet people when you are new to town. Start small, stay patient with yourself, and enjoy being outside.

More Than Golf

Roads to Know

The Saints is on SE Morningside Blvd. PGA Golf Club is on Perfect Dr. Astor Creek Country Club is on SW Shinnecock Dr, and Tesoro Club is on SE Via Tesoro Blvd. Put the full address into a map app. Port St. Lucie is spread out, and some of these streets have look-alike names. Golf and the Spot Lots Homes

Port St. Lucie Spot Lots is not a golf community. It is a set of individual homesites on different streets across the city. Some lots may be nearer a course than others. We can look at a specific lot with you. The homes are one-story, concrete block homes in five plans, and a few details may matter to a golfer.

  • The Madison, the Covington and the Camden each have a 3-car garage. That is extra room for clubs, a cart or gear.

  • The Cali and the Lakeside have 2-car garages.

  • All five plans are one story, so there are no stairs to climb after a round.

  • Four of the five plans (Lakeside, Madison, Covington and Camden) list a covered lanai, which is a covered outdoor space off the back of the house.

Want a golf community with a club membership? A neighborhood built around a course may fit you better than a spot lot. We are builder-neutral, and we will tell you if that is the case. Our job is to help you find the right fit, not to push one. You can see every plan on the community page.
