Lantana FL Homes for Sale: A New Construction Buyer's Guide

Homes for sale in Lantana, Florida, come in two very different shapes: older resale houses near the water and brand-new townhomes built in the last few years. If you want a new home with a warranty and nothing to fix, the new-construction side of Lantana is small but real. This guide walks you through both.

Lantana is a town in Palm Beach County. It was incorporated in 1921 and named after the lantana plant by the family who settled here. It is small and it sits on the coast. That combination is why prices here behave differently from the bigger cities around it.

What you are actually shopping for in Lantana

Most of what you will see listed in Lantana is resale. Older single-family homes, some condos, and a few duplexes. Many were built decades ago. They can be good buys, but you are buying someone else's roof, someone else's air conditioner, and someone else's wiring.

New construction is the other path. A new home comes with a builder warranty, current building code, and impact glass already installed instead of shutters you have to put up every storm season. You pay more per square foot. You spend less on repairs for a long time.

There is one active new-construction townhome community inside Lantana right now: Everton, built by Pulte. It is gated, it is all townhomes, and there are over two hundred of them planned. We cover it in full on our Everton community page.

Why buyers look at Lantana instead of the bigger cities

Three reasons come up again and again.

It is coastal without being a resort town. Lantana owns and staffs its own oceanfront park, Municipal Beach Park, with its own Ocean Rescue division. That is a town beach, not a county beach. Most towns this size do not run their own lifeguards.

It is central. Lantana sits between Lake Worth Beach and Boynton Beach, with Hypoluxo Road and Lantana Road both reaching I-95. If your job moves around Palm Beach County, being in the middle matters more than being at either end.

It is small enough to know. The town runs its own public library on West Ocean Avenue, which is a different library from the county system's Lantana Road branch. Two libraries, two operators. That is the scale of the place.

New construction versus resale—the honest trade-off

Often larger

Neither one wins for everybody. A buyer who wants a big yard and an older tree canopy should look at resale. A buyer who does not want to think about a roof for twenty years should look new.

What do "gated" and "no CDD" actually mean?

Two phrases show up in new-construction listings, and both are worth understanding before you compare prices.

Gated means the community has controlled entry. It affects who drives through your street, and some buyers will not consider anything else.

CDD stands for Community Development District. It is a separate charge some Florida communities add on top of your property taxes to pay back the cost of building roads, drainage, and utilities. It can run for decades. Two homes at the same price are not the same deal if one has a CDD and one does not. Pulte states that Everton has no CDD fees.

Always ask. The answer changes your monthly payment, not just your purchase price.

Getting around from Lantana

Named roads, because minute counts are never true for everyone.

  • Hypoluxo Road has its own I-95 interchange.

  • Lantana Road also reaches I-95 with its own interchange.

  • Military Trail runs north and south through the middle of the county. Take it north to Lake Worth Road or south to Boynton Beach Boulevard to reach Florida's Turnpike.

  • For downtown West Palm Beach, I-95 to Okeechobee Boulevard.

  • For the airport, I-95 to Belvedere Road.

One note worth knowing: Lake Worth Road crosses under I-95 without an interchange. It is not a way onto the highway.

Schools

We do not publish school assignments or ratings, because boundaries change and a wrong answer costs you real money. Look your exact address up yourself in the School District of Palm Beach County's own Find My School tool. It takes a minute, and it is the only source that is current.

Daily life

Real places, not filler. There is a Publix at the Lantana Shopping Center on Lantana Road and a Winn-Dixie at the Lantana Village Shopping Center on South Dixie Highway. Old Key Lime House on East Ocean Avenue is a local waterfront restaurant in the 1889 Lyman house—restaurants change owners and hours, so confirm before you plan around it.

For outdoor space, the town runs the Lantana Nature Preserve on East Ocean Avenue, a short accessible loop of brick path and boardwalk through coastal hammock and mangrove. Just outside town, Palm Beach County's John Prince Memorial Park covers more than seven hundred acres around the lake, with trails, fishing piers, boat ramps, a campground, and a dog park.

Common Questions

Is Lantana a good place to buy a new home?

It depends on what you want. Lantana is small, coastal and central in Palm Beach County, with its own town beach and library. New-construction choice is limited — there is one active new townhome community. If you want a wide choice of new builds, you will also want to look at Lake Worth and Boynton Beach.

How much do homes in Lantana cost?

Prices move constantly and anything written on a website goes stale within weeks. Call 561-704-0091 and we will pull the current numbers for both new construction and resale before you go looking.

Are there new construction homes in Lantana?

Yes. Everton by Pulte is an active gated townhome community in Lantana with two floor plans. See our Everton community page for the full details.

What is the difference between Lantana and Lake Worth Beach?

They are two separate municipalities. Lantana is its own town with its own government, beach and library. Lake Worth Beach is a separate city next door. Some websites and property portals file Lantana addresses under Lake Worth Beach, which confuses a lot of buyers.

Does Lantana have a beach?

Yes. The Town of Lantana owns Municipal Beach Park and runs its own Ocean Rescue division, so it is a staffed municipal beach rather than an unguarded access point.

Which schools serve Lantana?

School boundaries change and we do not publish assignments. Use the School District of Palm Beach County's own Find My School tool with your exact address — it is the only source that stays current.

Do I need my own agent to buy new construction?

The sales person at a builder's model home works for the builder. Having your own representation costs you nothing extra at most builders and means somebody is reading the contract on your side. Call 561-704-0091 before you sign anything.leaning on
