Delray Beach Tri-Rail and Main Roads Near Delray Trails

In this article
"Delray Beach Tri-Rail service runs from a station at 345 S Congress Avenue, with free parking and Palm Tran bus connections. Delray Trails is in west Delray Beach, in the 33484 ZIP code. To reach the station or anywhere else, you use a handful of permanent roads: Atlantic Avenue, Military Trail, Jog Road, Lake Ida Road, Congress Avenue, Florida's Turnpike and I-95. This guide explains how those pieces fit together, in plain words, with no drive-time guesses.
Why We Name Roads and Not Drive Times
Drive times sound helpful, but they are not. A trip takes one length at 7 a.m. and another at 5 p.m. It also changes with the season, the weather and where you start.
So we do something that stays true. We name the roads. Roads do not move. You can look at a map, pick your own route and test it when you visit. That is the honest way to judge a location.

If you want to see the homes first, visit the Delray Trails community page. Many people use Tri-Rail for trips north and south along the coast. It can be handy for a day out, a medical visit or a trip to meet family. You plan each trip around the schedule, so check it first.

The Main Roads, One at a Time
Here are the roads you will hear about most. Each is a permanent part of the map.
Atlantic Avenue
Atlantic Avenue is the main east-west road in Delray Beach. It is also called SR 806. It runs from the area near the ocean all the way west. Downtown, with its shops and galleries, is on this road. The public beach is at the east end. Many shopping centers also sit along it. Our guide to Delray Beach shopping, groceries and downtown covers what is along it.
Florida's Turnpike
Florida's Turnpike has an exit at Atlantic Avenue. The Turnpike is a toll road. It is handy for longer trips north and south, so many people use it when they leave town.
I-95
I-95 has exits at Linton Boulevard and at Atlantic Avenue. It is the other big north-south highway. Which one you pick, the Turnpike or I-95, depends on your trip and your habits.
Military Trail, Jog Road, Lake Ida Road and Congress Avenue
Military Trail and Jog Road run north and south. Lake Ida Road crosses town. Congress Avenue is where the Tri-Rail station sits. These are the roads that connect neighborhoods to errands, parks and medical offices.

Where Delray Trails Sits
Delray Trails is at 5832 Shining Sea Court, Delray Beach, FL 33484. That is west Delray Beach. We describe it only that way. We do not say how far it is from any road or landmark, because we cannot keep that accurate for you.
The easiest test is simple. Drive from the community to the places you visit most. Do it at the hour you would really travel. Then you know the real answer.
Using Maps for Your Own Routes
Here is an easy way to plan.
Write down the five places you go most. Think of the grocery store, your doctor, a park, a friend and a place you like to eat.
Look at which main road reaches each one.
Visit the community and drive those routes at the time of day you would travel.
This takes one afternoon. It tells you more than any number we could print.
