Dadeland South Station is the south end of Miami's Metrorail, and it is the place where south Miami-Dade's buses meet the train. From Breezewood, you can reach it by car up US-1, or by riding the county's Metro Express electric buses on the South Dade TransitWay. This guide explains the roads, the buses and the train in plain words, so you can plan your own commute.

Where Breezewood Sits on the Map

Breezewood is a Lennar townhome community at SW 232nd Street and SW 112th Avenue. Its mailing address says Miami, but the U.S. Census places it in Princeton, an unincorporated part of south Miami-Dade. Our Princeton, FL living guide explains what that means day to day.

Four roads do most of the work for people who live here. Learn these and you can get almost anywhere in the south county.

Road

Where it takes you

SW 112th Avenue (Allapattah Road)

North to US-1, south to Florida's Turnpike

SW 232nd Street

West to US-1

US-1 (South Dixie Highway)

North toward Cutler Bay and Dadeland, south toward Homestead

Florida's Turnpike, Homestead Extension

North and south across the county, reached from SW 112th Avenue

We never give drive times. Traffic in Miami-Dade changes by the hour and by the day, and one number is never right for every reader. Instead, we name the roads, so you can test the route yourself at the times you would really drive it.

SW 112th Avenue and SW 232nd Street

Breezewood sits right where these two roads meet. That is handy, because each one leads to a major road.

SW 112th Avenue is also called Allapattah Road, and the state calls it State Road 989. Head north and it meets US-1. Head south and it reaches the Turnpike interchange.

SW 232nd Street runs west from Breezewood to US-1. The county's local TransitWay bus also has a stop at SW 232nd Street, which we explain below.

US-1 (South Dixie Highway)

US-1 is the main road of south Miami-Dade. It is also called South Dixie Highway. It runs northeast through Princeton and Goulds, then on through Cutler Bay toward Kendall and Dadeland.

Many of your everyday trips will use it. Southland Mall sits on US-1 in Cutler Bay, at 20505 South Dixie Highway. Our Southland Mall Cutler Bay guide covers the stores there and the town's plans for the site.

Florida's Turnpike (Homestead Extension)

The Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike runs along the east side of Princeton. It is the highway for longer trips north and south across the county.

From Breezewood, take SW 112th Avenue south to reach it. An official Florida's Turnpike notice names the Allapattah Road / SW 112 Avenue / State Road 989 interchange as Exit 9A for southbound drivers. The same notice names Biscayne Drive / SW 288th Street as Exit 5.

Metro Express on the South Dade TransitWay

The South Dade TransitWay is a road built just for buses. It runs beside US-1 for 20 miles, from the SW 344th Street Park-and-Ride in Florida City up to Dadeland South Station. People used to call it the Busway.

On October 27, 2025, the county opened Metro Express. It is Miami-Dade's first all-electric bus rapid transit service. Bus rapid transit, or BRT, means buses that run on their own lane and stop at real stations, a lot like a train on wheels.

The county's Metro Express page lists 14 new stations from SW 344th Street to Dadeland South. The stations are air-conditioned. They have level boarding, which means the platform is even with the bus floor, so there are no steps to climb. They also have real-time arrival screens, free Wi-Fi and bike storage.

The Closest Stations to Breezewood

The county's station map shows the two closest Metro Express stations to Breezewood are SW 112 Ave and SW 244 St. There is no Metro Express station at SW 232nd Street.

That does not mean SW 232nd Street has no bus. Two routes use the TransitWay:

  • Route 601 (Metro Express) stops only at the big BRT stations.

  • Route 602 (TransitWay Local) makes local stops, and SW 232nd Street is one of them.

Check the county's live schedules before you plan a daily ride, since times and stops can change.

Dadeland South Station: Where the Bus Meets the Train

Dadeland South Station opened in 1984. It is the south end of Metrorail, Miami's train line. It is also the north end of the South Dade TransitWay. So this is where you switch from the bus to the train.

The station sits at 9150 Dadeland Boulevard in the Dadeland area of Kendall. It is next to US-1, near Dadeland Mall.

The county is now rebuilding Dadeland South into a bigger hub. The Dadeland South Intermodal Station Project page describes new canopies over the bus and train platforms. It also covers better links to The Underline and the South Dade Trail, which are walking and biking paths. Work like this can close parking for a while, so check that page for current alerts before you go.

How Miami-Dade Transit Fits Your Week

Miami-Dade transit gives you a real choice on some trips. Here is a simple way to think about it.

  • Going to Dadeland or past it? The bus-to-train route can save you from parking near Dadeland. Ride Metro Express up the TransitWay, then switch to Metrorail at Dadeland South.

  • Errands close to home? A car is usually simpler. Debbie Curtin Park and the Publix at 23300 SW 112th Avenue are both on the same road as Breezewood.

  • Heading across the county? The Turnpike is built for that.

We work with every builder, so here is the honest view. If you need to be farther north toward Dadeland, Capistrano in Cutler Bay is a single-family option closer to that end of US-1. If a lower starting point matters more than the commute, D.R. Horton's Palm Cay and Hadley Place in Florida City have recently started in the high $300,000s. Florida City is also where the TransitWay begins, at the SW 344th Street Park-and-Ride.
