Homes With Casita Suites: How Amara's Two Grande Plans Work

At Amara by DiVosta, two of the nine floor plans come with a casita: the Ellington Grande and the Livingston II Grande. A casita is a small private suite connected to the main house, with its own bedroom and its own bathroom. At Amara, DiVosta describes it as reached by a covered paver walkway. If you are looking for homes with casita space in Palm Beach County, these two plans are the place to start, and this guide explains what you get and what it costs compared with the same plan without one.

What Is a Casita?

""Casita"" is Spanish for ""little house."" In home building, it means a small living space that is separate from the main rooms, but still part of the same property. A casita usually has:

  • A bedroom

  • A full bathroom

  • Its own door, so a guest can come and go without walking through your kitchen

Some casitas are fully detached. Some are attached to the house by a wall or a roof. At Amara, DiVosta calls it a ""connected casita"" on the community page and an ""attached casita"" on the Livingston II Grande page. Both Grande plan pages list ""Casita with Covered Paver Walkway and Bathroom"" in their features.

A casita is not the same as a guest bedroom down the hall. The point of a casita is privacy on both sides. Your guest has a door of their own. You have your house back at night.

Which Amara Homes With Casita Suites Are There?

DiVosta groups these two plans as the Grande Collection. The community page says each one is ""equipped with upgraded living and a connected casita for added space, comfort, and flexibility.""

Ellington Grande

  • One story

  • From about 4,063 square feet

  • Five to six bedrooms, counting the casita

  • DiVosta describes it as the Ellington ""plus an added casita""

  • Listed options include a larger owner's suite and an extended lanai

Livingston II Grande

  • Two stories

  • From about 5,630 square feet

  • Six to seven bedrooms, counting the casita

  • DiVosta describes ""an attached casita"" for ""guests, in-laws, or extended stays""

  • The plan also shows an upstairs loft and an office or flex space

Both plans show the casita on the floor plan as one bedroom with one bath. None of the other seven Amara plans list a casita. You can see all nine side by side in our full comparison of Amara floor plans.

What the Casita Adds, in Numbers

Each Grande plan has a twin without a casita. Comparing the two shows you what the casita really adds. These numbers come from DiVosta's plan pages, checked October 14, 2026.

Without casita

With casita

Difference

Ellington to Ellington Grande

about 3,681 sq ft

about 4,063 sq ft

about 382 sq ft more

Livingston II to Livingston II Grande

about 5,248 sq ft

about 5,630 sq ft

about 382 sq ft more

Both jumps are about the same size: around 382 square feet. The price jumps are not the same. The Ellington Grande starts roughly $350,000 above the Ellington. The Livingston II Grande starts roughly $575,000 above the Livingston II. Those gaps are bigger than the casita alone would suggest, so ask what else is upgraded in the Grande versions. DiVosta's own wording is ""upgraded living,"" and the sales team can show you the line items.

Homes at Amara have recently started in the low $1,200,000s, and the Grande plans start well above that. Call 561-704-0091 for today's numbers.

Who a Casita Works Well For

A casita is about the way you use your home, not about who you are. Here are some common reasons people want one.

  • Frequent overnight guests. If people stay with you for a week or more at a time, a casita gives everyone room to breathe.

  • A home office with a real door. A casita can be a place to work with its own door, set apart from the main rooms of the house.

  • Visiting relatives. DiVosta's own page mentions in-laws and extended stays.

  • A hobby room or studio. Some people use it for art, music or exercise.

Think about how often you would really use it. A casita you use twice a year is still nice to have, but it is a big part of the price. A casita you use every week can change how your whole house works.

Casita vs Adding One Later

Some buyers ask whether they could just buy a home and add a casita later. You can look into that with an existing home, but it brings permits, a contractor, design work and months of construction. Building one in from the start means the space is designed with the house, and the cost goes into the purchase rather than a separate project. We compare new and older homes more broadly in new construction vs an existing home in Palm Beach County.

The covered paver walkway that leads to the casita works a bit like a lanai: a roofed outdoor space that keeps you out of the rain. If you are new to Florida homes, here is what a lanai is and how it differs from a patio.

A Casita vs a Guest Room Inside the House

A casita is not the only way to make room for guests at Amara. A few other plans offer a flexible room inside the main house. Here is how they compare, based on DiVosta's plan pages.

  • Oakhurst. The first floor has a flex room and a half bath. DiVosta says you can turn it into a fifth bedroom with its own bathroom. That gives a guest a room on a different floor from the owner's suite, which is upstairs in this plan.

  • Roseland. DiVosta lists an option to add a private suite, along with an upstairs loft and extra bathrooms.

  • Layton and Oakley. Both show a flex space you could use as an office or hobby room.

The difference comes down to privacy. A guest room inside the house shares your hallways, your kitchen and your front door. A casita gives a guest a separate space with its own bathroom, reached by a covered walkway. If your guests stay for a night or two, a room inside may be enough. If they stay for weeks, many people find the separation worth paying for.

There is also the question of stairs. The Ellington Grande puts the whole home, casita included, on one floor. The Livingston II Grande is two stories, so ask where the casita sits in relation to the stairs and the owner's suite before you choose.

Questions to Ask When You Tour

Bring these to your visit, and see Amara's community page for the full plan list.

  1. Is the casita included in the Grande price, or an option? The plan pages list it in the features. Confirm it in writing.

  2. Does the casita have its own outside door? Walk the path a guest would use.

  3. Does it have a kitchenette or just a bedroom and bath? The plan pages list a bedroom and a bathroom. Ask what else, if anything, can be added.

  4. What else is upgraded in the Grande? The price gap is bigger than the square footage alone.

  5. Which homesites fit a Grande plan? Not every lot may fit every plan.

If you are torn between a casita and a separate room inside the house, read about the Ellington's media room choice. It covers the other way Amara plans add a flexible room.
