Getting around - named roads only

"Getting around from Lantana comes down to two I-95 interchanges inside a very small town, and knowing which east-west roads actually reach the highway. One of them does not, and that catches people out.

This article names roads and connection points only. You will not find a single drive time here, and that is deliberate.

Why no drive times

A minute-count is wrong for almost everybody who reads it. It depends on where in the community you start, what time you leave, what season it is, and what has happened on I-95 that morning.

Roads do not change. A named road with a named interchange will still be there and still connect the same two places in ten years. So that is what we publish.

The two I-95 interchanges

Hypoluxo Road has its own I-95 interchange. Pulte's Everton community sits near the intersection of Military Trail and Hypoluxo Road, so this is the closest access for that community.

Lantana Road, also signed as County Road 812, has its own I-95 interchange. The Florida Department of Transportation describes it as a diamond interchange with Lantana Road elevated over I-95, inside the Town of Lantana.

Two separate on-ramps in a town this size is genuinely useful. A backup at one does not leave you with no option.

The next interchange north is 6th Avenue South.

The road that does not reach I-95

Write that down, because it is the single most common mistake made about this area. It is a major east–west road, it looks like it should have a ramp, and it does not. If somebody tells you a home is ""right by the Lake Worth Road exit,"" check.

Florida's Turnpike

There is no Turnpike interchange at Hypoluxo Road or Lantana Road. The Turnpike's Lantana Toll Plaza is a toll point, not an exit — another thing that misleads people looking at a map.

The two Turnpike interchanges that actually serve this area are:

Lake Worth Road, State Road 802, at Turnpike Exit 93. Lake Worth Road runs east and west, crosses the Turnpike, and crosses Military Trail. So from Lantana: Military Trail north, then Lake Worth Road west.

Boynton Beach Boulevard, State Road 804, at Turnpike Exit 86. Also east–west, also crossing Military Trail and Jog Road. From Lantana: Military Trail south, then Boynton Beach Boulevard west.

The north–south arterials

Military Trail, State Road 809, is the workhorse. It runs continuously north and south through Greenacres, West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach and up to Jupiter, and it is a genuine alternative to I-95, the Turnpike and US 1 when any of those is backed up.

Jog Road is the next major north–south road to the west.

Dixie Highway and Federal Highway run the coastal route, connecting Lantana to Lake Worth Beach to the north and Boynton Beach to the south without touching a highway at all.

Downtown West Palm Beach

Okeechobee Boulevard, State Road 704, is the way in. It runs east–west, has its own I-95 interchange at Exit 70, crosses Military Trail, and carries into downtown West Palm Beach as a one-way pair past the convention centre.

So from Lantana: I-95 north to Okeechobee Boulevard. Or, if you would rather stay off the highway, Military Trail north to Okeechobee Boulevard east.

The airport

Important name change. The airport is now officially President Donald J. Trump International Airport, and its three-letter code changed from PBI to DJT in July 2026. Older articles and signage still say Palm Beach International.

The practical route from Lantana is Hypoluxo Road to I-95, then I-95 to Belvedere Road. The airport's own directions list Exit 69 for Belvedere Road northbound, and Exit 69B southbound as a direct overpass to the airport.

From the Turnpike it is different: southbound, Exit 97 to Southern Boulevard east, then the Australian Avenue exit. Northbound, Exit 99 to Okeechobee Boulevard east, Military Trail south, Belvedere Road east, Congress Avenue, then James L. Turnage Boulevard.

The single most useful thing you can do before buying anywhere is drive your actual commute, at the actual time you would be doing it, on a weekday. Not a Sunday afternoon. A Tuesday at eight in the morning.

Public transport, honestly

Palm Beach County is a driving county and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. Palm Tran runs the county bus system and Tri-Rail runs the commuter train up and down the corridor between Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, with stations along the I-95 spine.

If you intend to commute without a car, check the current routes and station locations yourself before you commit to an address, because service levels change and we are not going to publish a schedule that will be wrong next year. For most households here, a car is not optional.

Things that will not change, and things that will

The reason this article is built on road names is that road names are durable. I-95, Florida's Turnpike, Military Trail, Jog Road, Hypoluxo Road, Lantana Road, Okeechobee Boulevard, Dixie Highway and Federal Highway will all be exactly where they are now in twenty years.

What does change: traffic patterns, construction, interchange upgrades, and the names of things. The airport renaming in July 2026 is a live example — every article written before then names it wrongly now, and most of them will never be updated.

So use this page for the geography, and check anything time-sensitive yourself before you rely on it.
